Manchu Invasion

The downfall of the Qing dynasty wasn’t a drastic loss of life and a dynasty but rather a build-up of failures in leadership. The Manchu invasion of the Qing dynasty wasn’t just the brute nature of the Manchu and their specific tactics. The Qing dynasty collapsed, and revolts became huge, with many supporters against the dynasty. When the Manchus raided, they were welcomed with open arms by Ming collaborators and peasants who were dissatisfied with the government’s control. The invasion only happened because Ming officials reached out for help from the Manchus. The Manchu people saw this as an opportunity to create their dynasty in the Chinese empire. Their success after the invasion and control of power was only maintained by their ability to adapt. After the attack, the Manchus adopted the Ming government. They employed Ming officials to take charge of the governments, alleviating the Chinese people. They also gave nobility to generals, and the Chinese military was organized into the Lüying to guard against local rebellions. The tactics the Manchu employed helped lead to their success. With the crumpled Chinese dynasty, the Manchus could breach the inner circle of the Chinese. Then they were able to reuse the officials and still keep stability. It’s interesting how the culture was held in place for all of China and didn’t create instability, even with a different face on the empire. The brute tactics and forgiveness of the Manchu lead to their great success. Overall, the Manchus were very tactical in how they attacked the Qing dynasty.
